I've always loved water....can't ever get enough of swimming...I prefer drinking it over anything else....endlessly fascinated by its myriad forms and their perfectly graceful movements. I was in a bookstore in Nashville, TN(for a wedding)- I had decided I wanted to read some of Hunter Thompson's work. After picking out "Screwjack," I browsed through a good 1/3 of their art section, and then proceeded to the photography section...and after absorbing many images, I came across a book on waves. From the very first image in the book, I was transported.....I've always known how integral water is to our existence, but seeing it like this triggered a kind of epiphany-like long moment of recognition. The wave, as a symbol for this fluid and ever-changing moment, stood out in my mind and then my attention was pushed onto the very edge of the moment as it occurred...noticing every little sound in the store along w/ every minute movement I made. The waves in the book were like tangible and visible metaphors that deepened in that moment an already deep connection with "nowness" and grace. A wave, crashing through some primeval forest, but somehow benevolent and not destructive.
Beautiful flow, colours and textures.
